Phuket's position: tourism growth stimulates property market.
news · 4 September 2025
Phuket continues to steadily strengthen its status as one of the most popular destinations in Asia. Over 7.6 million tourists visited the island in the first seven months of 2025, and total tourism revenues exceeded 290 billion baht. Such a flow of guests stimulates not only the tourism industry, but also the real estate market, where demand for rental and purchase of housing is steadily growing.
The main sources of tourist traffic remain Russia, China and India. The activity of Russians is especially noticeable: despite external factors, they continue to choose Phuket for long-term vacations and wintering, spending more time and money on the island than tourists from other countries. This directly affects the demand for long-term rental of villas and apartments, as well as the purchase of properties for personal residence and investment.
Infrastructure development
From January to July 2025, Phuket Airport served 63 thousand flights, which is 6% higher than last year's figures. At the same time, new international routes are actively opening: AirAsia (Medan - Phuket), Asiana Airlines (Seoul - Phuket) and Air France (Paris - Phuket). In July alone, passenger traffic amounted to almost 887 thousand people, and hotel occupancy remains at 76%.
Development has also affected marine tourism: over the past six months, more than 150 thousand cruise ship passengers and almost 700 guests on yachts have arrived on the island. All this increases the attractiveness of Phuket for both short-term and long-term stays.
Trends and Prospects
By the end of 2024, Phuket received 13.1 million tourists and earned almost 500 billion baht. 2025 promises to exceed these figures. The island's success is explained by a combination of natural beauty, developed infrastructure and the authorities' attention to improving the quality of service.
For the real estate market, this means one thing: the demand for renting and buying housing will only grow. Holidaymakers are increasingly considering staying longer, investing or purchasing a property for personal use.
